Miami Dolphins 2025 7-Round NFL Mock Draft Vs. Consensus Board
We've been hard at work setting our board for the 2025 NFL Draft. What would the picks look like today if we were drafting in accordance to our board versus the consensus rankings?
We are now less than one month away from the 2025 NFL Draft. This year’s class will be especially important to the Dolphins, who are looking for the right infusion of young talent into a team that needs a new edge and a new focus in 2025. Whether or not the team has a splash card up their sleeve is yet to be determined. But we’ve seen some added clues about what this group could be trying to achieve with their adjustments to both the offensive and defensive personnel.
Miami has become more physical with the ancillary players on the offensive side of the ball and they’ve become more explosive with their back-seven additions at both linebacker and safety thus far.
This mock draft will try to bring more of the same. But it’s not just as easy as pulling names out of a hat. I’ve been steadily stacking my own player grades for my work with The 33rd Team and have recently begun converting those grades into Miami Dolphins-specific grades — designed to be tailored to the traits that mean the most to the Miami Dolphins. With that board now approximately 220 players deep, I was ready to put it to the test.
There’s no mock draft simulator on hand for this mock exercise — I am instead using the “consensus” 2025 NFL Draft rankings as my guide. If you’re ranked 13th or lower over at The Mock Draft Database’s consensus rankings (which average the boards of media from all over with the draft), then you’re eligible to be picked at No. 13 overall. If you’re 48th or lower, you’re eligible to be picked at No. 48 overall, etc.
MDDB was tallied courtesy of nearly 150 total media big boards…several of which were mine for The 33rd Team.
And so with the consensus board serving as our draft board, what would *I* do a month out in the 2025 NFL Draft if I were Chris Grier?
Pick No. 13 - DB Jahdae Barron, Texas Longhorns
Consensus Big Board Rank: 16th overall
Crabbs Dolphins 2025 Board: 3rd overall
Barron ranking 3rd overall on the Dolphins-specific board is a testament to just how good of a fit I think this is. Barron said at his Pro Day that some teams see him as an outside corner, other teams see him as a nickel and still other teams see him as a safety.
The Dolphins could allow him to play all three. I discussed Barron at length already earlier this week on Locked On Dolphins.
(For those keeping score at home, Will Campbell, Armand Membou, Tyler Warren and Will Johnson were all off the board.)
Pick No. 48 - DT Alfred Collins, Texas Longhorns
Consensus Big Board Rank: 56th overall
Crabbs Dolphins 2025 Board: 50th overall
If the Dolphins’ defensive tackle situation has you feeling a little uneasy, please remember that it’s March 28th. And we’re less than a month away from the chance to add Alfred Collins. This is an ELITE run defender. A mammoth monster who falls somewhere on the spectrum of what Raekwon Davis could have been had he been the player Brian Flores was turning up for in his living room on draft night in 2020 and A’Shawn Robinson.
Collins doesn’t have great pass rush appeal but Miami would be collecting an A/B-gap fluid lock/peek/shed monster to play the point of attack and help their rangy linebackers run free.
